Seven of Cups

The image of the seven of cups shows a person obviously dreaming of many wonderful things. Often it can be difficult to prioritize our wants and needs or discriminate between fantasy and illusion. Making clear choices is often difficult under these circumstances especially since our culture is all about accumulating things.

The number seven is about tests and trials which becomes more difficult as we try to imagine how to afford or accumulate all that we think we need or want. Can you or your querent resist the temptations that are so prevalent in our society? Glamour is everywhere, including the glamour of such ideas as how we clothe ourselves, our households, financial status, marriage and family, and even such abstract beliefs as religion and philosophy. We want to achieve a higher status in society which means having more. Are we ever satisfied?

There is a danger that you may be so entranced by your visions, that you may be building castles in the air. Perhaps you may be expending too much energy on the trappings of a superficial lifestyle.

Upright reading – The querent may be faced with so many possible things that a solution is not evident.
It's suggested that one must modify, prioritize or select one thing at a time.
Acknowledge that fantasy and dreams enrich our life and help us examine what is necessary for our well being.
Do not make sudden decisions based on emotional attachments

Reversed – The querent may be living in a fantasy world.
Follow through with a decision to a future outcome.
Use a practical approach and resist the temptation to make an impromptu decision or move.
Use your will power to resist temptation.
Dispel illusions to see the reality within.
Do not spend so much time in the dream world.
A hope could be shattered.

The seven of Cups reversed does not have to have an opposite meaning. This card can be read according to the querent's situation. A reversal may indicate being unaware of something or the prolonging of the situation. Questioning the querent about their wishes, desires and goals will allow them to become more introspective and selective.

DAILY ONE CARD READING

Possible one card readings for you or your querent: Certain decks are more helpful than others, particularly when it comes to healing.

Setting priorities: “What should I be focusing on today, this week, in the present, etc.?
This is helpful when you are overwhelmed with decisions or challenges.

Lessons: “What can I learn from present challenges in my life”?
This can either be general and specific.

Specific: Ask any question that is upper most on your mind. Example, “What do I need to know about my upcoming meeting”?

Helpful: “What approach should I take to successfully accomplish.....”? Or, “What mental attitude will help me talk to …..”? It's good to take your time and develop a positive approach to difficult events and relationships problems.

Predictive: “What can I expect for the day/week or present”?

Lessons: “What can I learn from the present challenges I am faced with”? If you believe in karma you can think about what purposes you decided, before being born on this earth, you would try to work on. Many of us may bite off more than we can chew.

Living the Tarot: “Which card do I need to experience more thoroughly”? You can choose a card to focus on during the day/week that best suits your present experiences. This allows you to act/think in line with the card's message.

Healing: “What kind of healing energy will help me feel the affects of a deep healing remedy”? Often Western medicine only heals the symptoms and not the root cause(s).

Fun: “What should I think about as I go through this day”? This may be a fun thing but it also allows for a deeper and more thoughtful approach to life in general.

Some possible questions for further approaches to the daily card reading.

What perspective should I take on this issue?
I need specific advice concerning.....
What is an expanded view, particularly a spiritual message?
Give me guidance for improving my relationship.
What are the consequences of …..?
What opportunities for growth does …...hold for me?
What is blocking me from.......?
What are the opportunities for growth?
