KEY XXI - The World
by Peggy Firth, Certified Tarot Master
The World, also called the Universe, signifies wholeness, balance, fertility, integration and unification. When this card appears it conveys the idea and feeling that there may be little in the way of accomplishment or resources.
In the traditional Rider Waite deck we see that the culmination of the preceding cards is the unveiled priestess. She dances in the air within an infinite surround of an almond shaped mandorla of green leaves. The red bindings at the top and bottom of the wreath take the shape of a lemniscate, the symbol of eternity. The lady holds candles that burn at both ends representing the magical aspects of her being. Her purple sash that winds around her body hiding her genitals gives the body a more androgenous nature.
The four human and animal heads that grace the four corners represent the four fixed signs of the zodiac. From the upper left going clockwise we have Aquarius, Scorpio, Leo and Taurus.
The legs of this body take on the shape of the Hanged Man forming a divine triangle.
If this card is read for relationships it signifies a time of greatest joy and togetherness.
Upright – You can approach an issue or project with assurance.
You are able to understand and accomplish with ease.
Completion of something important signifies greater ease
or freedom of restriction.
Reversed – View and resolve issue(s)
Complete a task that will hold the potential for something greater.
Once a task or understanding is accomplished greater freedom abounds.
Dance to your own tune in the midst of the complexities of life.
This is my personal "Code of Ethics"
I will keep confidential all information that is discussed.
I cannot provide you with legal, medical, financial, and psychiatric advice. If the insights from this reading reveal special needs, I will suggest the appropriate professionals.
I do not believe that future events are fixed or predictable. I believe that we are spiritual beings with free will to choose and change our minds and future events. However, the cards reveal general tendencies and insights that suggest future possibilities. I will do my best to reveal these indicators. The tarot also does not give definite yes/no nor pinpoints times and locations. The cards do reveal, clarify and describe certain energies or influences that point to challenges, issues, and possibilities that allow you to make wiser choices.
Additional readings will require a re-negotiation of fee.
I believe that you are responsible for your own life and actions, therefore I will not instruct you or direct you, but encourage you in areas that are revealed in the reading.
One reading, which may or may not consist of more than one spread, is all that is necessary for a period of three months. Successive readings may reveal certain tendencies but may not change your initial reading.
